How to Install Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) in Windows 11

Microsoft does not provide a download link for RSAT for Windows 11… but that’s because it’s all included by default.

If you work as a Windows server administrator, you’re probably familiar with Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT). However, if you’re upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, you may have noticed that there’s no option to download RSAT for your new operating system on the Microsoft website. This is due to the fact that you can install these programs from within Windows 11.

Here’s how to install RSAT directly from Windows 11.

How to Install RSAT in Windows 11

The simplest approach to install RSAT is through the settings on Windows 11. So, right-click Windows and select Settings. Select Apps, followed by Optional features.

Click the View features button on the right of the Add an optional feature option (the first one on the page) to bring up a pop-up for adding RSAT features.

Enter RSAT in the top search box to find the tools you require. Then you’ll see a list of RSAT capabilities that you can install on your computer. Select the ones you want, then click Next.

Then, check the RSAT features you wish to install and press the Install button.

The pop-up will close, and the download status of the features will be visible in the Recent actions area.

By right-clicking Start and selecting Windows Terminal (Admin), you may view all of the RSAT capabilities you’ve installed. UAC will prompt you, and you should click Yes to allow the software to make changes to your PC.
Then, in Windows Terminal, copy and paste the following command and press the Enter key.

Get-WindowsCapability -Name RSAT* -Online | Select-Object -Property DisplayName, State

When the command is finished, you will get a list of all the RSAT features and their states.

How to Uninstall Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) Features in Windows 11

By going to the Optional features tab in the settings, you can delete the RSAT functionality. Scroll down to the Installed features area, choose the feature to be uninstalled, and then click the Uninstall button.
