The first hands-on photographs of the MacBook Air 2022 began to circulate on the internet shortly after Apple’s WWDC speech yesterday. Now, we’re seeing several hands-on videos emerge, providing a closer look at the all-new MacBook Air design, the new midnight color option, and more. Below is a collection of the first MacBook Air hands-on videos.
MacBook Air features
The new MacBook Air has been fully rebuilt as a refresher, discarding the traditional wedge-shaped taper design in favor of flat edges akin to the MacBook Pro and iMac. The new design is 11.3 mm thin and 2.7 pounds, and it comes in space gray, silver, starlight, and a brand-new midnight color.
Inside the machine is a new M2 chip, which Apple claims is up to 40% faster for heavy applications. Apple also notes that the new MacBook Air has the same power efficiency as the M1, with up to 18 hours of battery life. In addition, the M2 enables the new MacBook Air to support up to 24GB of unified RAM and up to 2TB of storage.
The MacBook Air 2022 also has two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 connections and a new MagSafe charging port. There are two new charging brick alternatives as well, including a new 35W compact power converter with two USB-C connections. For the first time, the MacBook Air offers rapid charging, charging up to 50% in 30 minutes with an optional 67W USB-C power adapter.
The new MacBook Air also has a larger 13.6-inch display that is 25% brighter than the previous MacBook Air. In addition, the redesigned display has a notch that houses an improved 1080p webcam.
